Have you noticed that lots of our conversations about education in recent years have turned angry?

What's going on? The issues are often hard and complex, and attempts to have thoughtful conversations about complex issues often devolve into shouting matches. But something else is also happening in our schools, something that tends to get far less attention every day. Lots of people are doing the hard work of supporting students and creating opportunities, and they are doing this work with love and wisdom. Lots of people are going beyond the culture war narrative and doing things that actually help students flourish. My name is Jeff Pittsburgher and for the last eight years I served as chief academic officer at the Orange County Department of Education in California. Now I'm Professor of Education and director of the Graduate Education Program at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California. During the past few years, I've seen lots of fear and anger and you probably have, too.

In this podcast, we'll explore that phenomenon. But I've also seen lots of love and wisdom—sometimes coming from unexpected places. And that's what we'll concentrate on in this podcast. We'll talk to students and families, educators, and community members who are doing education with love and wisdom. We'll talk to people whose lives have turned around because of caring educators. We'll talk to community members who participated in transformative work with students and families. And we'll talk about ways we can all engage in civic life with love and wisdom rather than fear and anger. We'd love to hear your story, too. So, join us for the Education for Love and Wisdom Podcast coming soon.
